Well, the economy is depressed now and has many waiting for better days so any economic development may be slow coming. In early April, President Grimmer had mentioned that there were no rumors but fact that Disney was inquiring about a theme park. However, roads are not up to par to allow egress and ingress/on and off and accomodating excess loads (such as I-12, 447, 442, ETC.).

Juban's been stuck on a sewage ditch 15 ft. by 100+ feet and the EPA has to approve sewage disposal to nearby Grey's Creek instead of the Amite River miles down the road.

No one's attempting to up the dining establishment from mom 'n pop greasy spoons to an improvement such as The Olive Garden, Outback, etc. Establishment/owners are stuck on fast foot and Chili's. The one in BassPro is untested and probably stuffed from new-comers/gawkers.

Walker is stagnant and over filled with nothing but banks and storage places (geez, does everyone in Livingston keep their possestions in a shed??). Where's economic development when you need it??? Walker has the worse food and highways seen by humankind and Denham Springs is but a step-up which relies on real-estate and antiques. Perhaps the parish and economic development needs to start earning their pay and start going after establishments to keep people from going to the "Road-black" also know as Sherwood in Baton Rouge Wink

Pitful land and development at best to lure the obscure and attrack the love bugs Wink

Get going officials!!! All promising with little acccomplished!! Huh

The latest is that there was a 2000 acre fesability study that was compleated last week. Disney and other large theme parks may be contacted by parish officials to bring them to this fine parish. The person I talked to is in the loop of this. I did not press him for any info. I just told him what was on my message board and how true was the info. I'm sure he could not tell me everything that he knew.

The property is south of I-12 somewhere between Livingston and Walker.

If I get word of anything else I will post it here.

If anybody else hears of anything please post it here.

i don't mind a theme park, but what about the interstate. Traffic is horrible now, just imagine what it will be like when they build this theme park. have you ever tried driving on the interstate after 3? it is pure hell---stop and go----from o'neal lane all the way down to juban. i don't mind the theme parks, but i would like to see the traffic situation fixed.

People get ready for a big announcement. I am not sure just when it will happen but it will mean jobs for everyone in the parish for some time to come. If you have land hold on to it at least until you hear this announcement and if it will effect you. You may have some property near the site that will make you a very rich person. If you notice some of the big construction projects in Livingston Parish is on hold now. I don't see enything going on at the new Jubin Exit. Juban Crossing where are you. We have to get some commitments on new road projects from the state and Feds to get people to this big new complex when it gets built. If the road projects get the OK in the back rooms then the parish is in for a big suprise. Disney ain't seen nothin yet! When this project is announced I want you to go to the courthouse and do some research and see which polititians own property nearby. You willl see something interesting.

Disney comming to Livingston Parish. I think this was just a ploy to make people run out and buy some land with the hope of being rich when thr theme park was announced. Some people selling land are probably making up stories just so they can unload their land and make a little more money. Maybe in 20 to 30 years when the loop around Baton Rouge is complete, then disney may come. There are not enough highways to take on the traffic now. Just the construction of such a project would require more roads to be built. I will be dead and gone by the time that will happen. My kids kids may see a theme park Cry but I won't Cry . I remember the water slide park in Denham Springs 30 years ago. This was a big attraction back then. OH!!!! I think all the talk about a theme park may be around a water park like Schlitterbahn in Galveston Texas. www.schlitterbahn.com is this place owned by Disney Huh That would make sence of all this comotion about a theme park. Make it a parctial indoor waterpark like the one in Japan.
I can ramble on and on about our parish. But I won't.  Yea, bad english and even worst spelling. I need spell check. I'm glad I can post without being a member. I always hate to sign up for these message boards. This one I don't so I will be a posting. I just can't make changes to what I post if I make a mistake. Oh, by the way, it's a phoney email address to. Grin you need to get some more smiley faces

umm, yes, Disney owns over 30,000 acres in Florida.  But it doesn't take that much for a theme park!  The Magic Kingdom only takes up 85 acres!  A LOT can go on 2000 acres.  I doubt it'd be Disney tho, but it could still be something cool.

Huh Well, one can forget about a Disney Theme park. It takes oodles of acreage and the one in Orlando:

Total acreage of the Walt Disney World Resort: 30,500
That's equal to 47 square miles.

So, what will 2000 acres get? Probably a German "Waterpark" for those 30 and under. ;^( and only for summer fun. It would have been wonderful to see a year round park, but even the Jazzland/6 Flags in New Orleans was in deep trouble before the hurricane and theme park owners are quite aware that hurricane force winds can do here. (and in Florida, for that matter).

Oh, well.

Great rumors, I love it!

Our Lady of The Lake purchased 100 acres on Walker South near the interstate I-12. I believe it is being cleared at this time. This might be what some people are thinking is the coming of the theme park. I hear that land on Walker South is going for more than $4 a sq foot as the result of all this. Much more by I-12.

We got our Bass Pro. More to come so stay tuned! Shocked

Hello ...this is my first post on this board. I have heard the rumor that someone has bought 1900 acres between Satsuma and Livingston and that some of the money was Disney...plans to build a movie studio, waterpark and semi-pro baseball complex.

The other rumor was from someone who lives on Walker South and said that Disney bought 2200 acres from the old Harris place..with plans for a Magic Kingdom

I don't know what to think...but something is going to be built in Livingston Parish...Mike Grimmer said that soon he will have a major announcement that will shock the south!

My info is coming from several other message boards that I am reading.

Possible Theme Park and Movie Studio and get this a Minor League Baseball Team coming to Livingston Parish.

Theme Park may be a big Water Park.

Location is on Walker South, south of I-12. Land may be in the process of being cleared.

Another source told me the Theme Park was going to be between Satsuma and Holden. This was just a rumor that he herd.

1900 acres have already been purchased and another 1000 being looked at.

This is just speculation and rumors right now. Me,,, I think it is going to happen. Just too much noise about this for it to go away. One newspaper and real estate broker has already made mention about this. Maybe they started the rumor.

Does anybody else have any info on this???

I, too, have heard plenty of these rumors and by all means hope they are true. We need something "good" for our area. The nearby sporting good stores are nice, but something for families to do together without paying a fortune to travel states away would be awesome for our families and property values. I am all for whatever may come about !
