Livingston Parish, Louisiana - Denham Springs to Springfield - Portal

Begin your park visit at the Nature Center (open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily) with an introductory video presentation, interactive learning exhibits, and a stop at the aquarium. This is a great starting point for your adventure into the park.  You will see a snake exhibit and several aquariums showing some of the wildlife. Have you ever seen a crawfish? You will see one today. Some people call them mud-bugs. Here in Louisiana we eat them. Usually you get a 30 to 40 lb sack and boil them up in a large pot with plenty of hot stuff. You really need to find a restaurant and try some while you are here. If your lucky someone will be boiling them up in the campground and let you try some.

We're some friendly people here and if you let us know you are from out of state we will bend over backwards for you.

See live snakes and fish is their natural habitat.

You really need to take a look at the alligators in the fishing pond while you are here.  Usually you will see several of them when you go out on the fishing pier.
