Main Street Program

THE DENHAM SPRINGS MAIN STREET PROJECT is an economic development and physical improvement process designed to benefit the entire Denham Springs community.

The GOAL of the program is a comprehensive process designed to improve ALL aspects of downtown. Improving economic management and making downtown a "FUN" place to visit are as important as rehabilitating buildings & recruiting new businesses.

There are four distinct elements that are combined to create a well-balanced program. The four elements are:

ORGANIZATION: To building public and private partnerships, leadership, and effective management among diverse groups such as merchants, bankers, public officials, Business Associations, Chamber of Commerce, and civic groups.

PROMOTION: To rekindle community excitement & involvement through such activities as street festivals, improved public relations and effective merchandising, as well as a promotional calendar!

DESIGN: To improve the visual quality of downtown's buildings, public improvement, signs and window displays.

ECONOMIC RESTRUCTURING: To strengthen the existing economic assets of downtown through retail recruitment, converting unused building space, and sharpening the competitiveness of merchants.

The overall goal of the MAIN STREET PROGRAM is to:

IMPROVE the competitive position of downtown Denham Springs in relation to other commercial centers.

ENHANCE the attractiveness and enjoyment of downtown for shopper, visitors, and tourists.

RESTORE as much of the downtown's historic history or traditional character as possible.
