Alligators - Tickfaw State Park
Fontainebleau State Park -- Mandeville, Louisiana

Livingston Parish, Louisiana

If you get a chance you need to go on an alligator swamp tour and see the Cajun Country.
You can see alligators at this park but there are some actual tours off site and close by that will have hundreds of gators.
Maybe you will get there during feeding time!

This pond has as many as 10 alligators in it from time to time. Some are caught and released into other areas away from the park. The 12 footer has not been caught yet! The ones in these pictures are about 6 to 8 feet long.

Louisiana 's wild alligator population is estimated to be approximately 1.5 million animals. There are also over 500,000 alligators on alligator farms in Louisiana.

Louisiana alligator hunters currently harvest over 33,000 wild alligators and farmers harvest over 280,000 farm-raised alligators annually. Raw meat and hide values are estimated at over $10 million for the wild harvest and over $33 million for the farm harvest in 2005. (Note these values consist of raw meat and hides only and are not reflective of hide values after tanning and product manufacturing, values associated with jobs, tourism, economy, etc. or egg values.)
